Residential Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)
Household chemicals: Look for products with the words caution, warning, danger, poison, flammable, hazardous, or corrosive. Products with these labels should NOT be disposed of in the landfill, they should be brought to KC Recycling for safe, free disposal.
In your home these labels may be on your cleaning products or polishes. In your garage these may include but are not limited to pesticides, fertilizers, herbicides, pool chemicals, or automotive products. |
Paints: We collect all oil base paints free of charge. Latex paint is water based and non-hazardous. Good latex paint (meaning it can be stirred and used again) is collected free of charge and put into our reuse room. Bad latex paint is collected with a user fee. Latex paint that is dried may be thrown away in the trash as long as the lid is off.
To help your latex paint dry, mix equal parts kitty litter or sawdust into your paint and it will dry quickly. It can now go safely in your trash! |
