Merry Sustainable Christmas
The holiday season is here, and with it comes the joy of giving, celebrating, and decorating. This year, let’s work together to make our festivities a little more sustainable! Small actions can make a big impact on our environment, and we encourage everyone to join us in reducing waste and making thoughtful choices as you celebrate.
Recycle old Electronics
Did you Upgrade your electronics on Black Friday or are you getting new on Christmas? Don’t let those old TVs, devices, and appliances gather dust or end up in landfills! Bring your broken and outdated gadgets to our collection site so they can be safely recycled and kept out of the trash. The items still working will be put in the Reuse room and the rest will be recycled. Working or not, we take them just the same.
Decorate Differently by Using What You Have
Get creative with your holiday décor! Instead of buying new decorations, try arranging what you already have in a new spot in your home. Moving your favorite decorations will bring new life to an old favorite. Try setting up your Christmas tree in a fresh location, it may just need a new angle instead of a new home. You’ll be amazed at how a simple change can make your space feel festive and new—without spending a dime or generating extra waste.
Give New Life to your Toys: Donate and Shop Used!
Wanting to make room for the Christmas gifts? Looking for the perfect gift for the kids? Consider shopping for gently used toys instead of buying brand new. Thrift stores and online marketplaces are packed with treasures that can bring joy to your family while reducing environmental impact. Check out the Toy Time put on by Combined Community Services. By choosing pre-loved gifts, you help keep toys out of landfills and support a more circular holiday economy.
Let’s Celebrate Sustainably
Every small choice counts. By reducing, reusing, and recycling this Christmas season, we can make a difference together. If you have questions about what you can recycle or want to learn more about sustainable holiday tips, reach out to us. Wishing you and your loved ones a happy, healthy, and sustainable holiday!
